Chad, fresh from shocking the world 2 days ago, slumped to a surprise 3-0 defeat against Uzbekistan and will head home from the World Cup.

Bahrain looked good in beating Slovenia 4-1 but they will not progress to the knockout stages.

India held Portugal for 25 minutes but then conceded 8 as they bowed out with an 8-0 loss.

Hungary beat Ukraine 3-0, a win that ensured they made it through to the Last 16 as runners up from Group C.

Also in Group C, England won by the same scoreline against Türkiye to cement their place in top spot.

Hosts Azerbaijan, supported by another huge crowd, made sure they will be in Tuesday’s Last 16 as they saw off Mauritania 2-0.

Slovakia were expected to see off a Bulgarian team that hadn’t impressed so far in this year’s tournament but the Lions from Bulgaria held on to a 1-0 lead and will now face England in two days time for a place in the Quarter Finals.

In the final game of the night, Romania and France played out a 0-0 draw, a result that sees both teams qualify for the knockouts.
